The 2008 Pacific Life Open eclipsed the record attendance marks set last year, when 303,398 people entered the gates of the Indian Wells Tennis Garden for the 12-day, 20-session tournament, continuing to make it one of the most highly attended events on the ATP Masters Series and Sony Ericsson WTA Tour tennis circuit.
In an electrifying two weeks of tennis, 20-year-old Serbs Novak Djokovic and Ana Ivanovic emerged as the new men's and women's champions from an impressive line-up that featured past winners Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Daniela Hantuchova, Maria Sharapova and Lindsay Davenport. Meanwhile, unseeded American Mardy Fish put together an exceptional run to the title match as he unseated three Top 10 players with the support of his home country crowd.
