- 30 inches in height Champions Trophy
- 12 inches in height
Trophies are smaller size replicas of the original 18-foot sculpture, which resides at Pacific Life’s home office in Newport Beach, CA. These sculpture sizes are exclusive to Pacific Life, who commissioned the original work.
About the sculpture:
- The piece, entitled "The Pacific Promise," is a bronze sculpture of a mother humpback whale and her calf.
- The artist is Randy Puckett, whose notable works include life
size whale sculptures at Scripps Institute in La Jolla and the
Monterey Bay Aquarium (www.whalesofrandypuckett.com).
- The original sculpture -- 18-feet tall and created at one-third
scale -- resides at the home office of Pacific Life, in Newport
Beach. It was installed in February 2001 and was airlifted by
helicopter into the center atrium of Pacific Life’s 5-story
headquarters. The calf is 8-feet long. It took 2,500 man-hours
and 18 months to complete the work. Marine biologist and founder
of Ocean Alliance/Whale Conservation Institute, Dr. Roger Payne
consulted with Pacific Life and the artist to insure an accurate
representation of humpback whales.
